The Imota Local Council Development Area, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, on Thursday, organized a comprehensive onboarding and training programme for its newly recruited senior officers.
The initiative is part of strategic efforts aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency and enhancing service delivery across the council.
The training programme, held at the Imota Council Secretariat, brought together top management officials, seasoned resource person, and the newly recruited officers. The exercise was designed to familiarize participants with the structure, culture, and operational procedures of the council, while preparing them for their roles in policy implementation and governance.
Speaking at the event, the Council Manager, Mr. Akinyemi Olusegun, emphasized the importance of capacity building in achieving sustainable grassroots development.
He noted that the success of any administration depends largely on the competence, discipline, and dedication of its workforce, urging the officers to view their appointments as a call to service.
He further explained that the onboarding process was carefully structured to instill a strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and accountability among the new officers.
The Council Manager encouraged them to uphold transparency and integrity in the discharge of their duties, while reaffirming the council’s commitment to continuous staff training and development.

In the same vein, the Head of Administration and Human Resource Department, Mr. Olatunji Shafi, advised the new officers to remain diligent, adaptable, and committed to excellence. He stressed the need for teamwork and adherence to established guidelines, noting that effective service delivery requires collective effort and a results-driven mindset.
During the training sessions, the facilitator, former Deputy Director of Administration and Human Resource (rtd), Mr. Ariyo Ismail, delivered lecture on key areas including public service ethics, administrative procedures, financial management, and effective communication within the public sector. He also exposed participants to modern governance practices aligned with global standards.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Imota LCDA Branch, Comrade Olatayo Hassan, sensitized the newly recruited officers on the programmes and activities of the union. He noted that the union remains committed to protecting the welfare and interestz of all staff within the council.
The programme featured interactive sessions and practical exercises aimed at enhancing problem-solving skills and fostering teamwork among the officers. These engagements provided an avenue for participants to interact with experienced administrators and gain deeper insights into the workings of local government administration.
